2019-2020 Top 5 Locations for Senior and Teen Photos

When it comes to photo shoots, its all about location, location, location. My clients want lots of choices and choosing the perfect location for their pictures is a must! What are my Teens, Tweens and Seniors top picks? Check out the blog below for all the best locations.

#5- Tipsoo Lake:

Nestled in Mount Rainier National Park is our teens #5 choice- Tipsoo Lake. Tipsoo lake is so picturesque with abundant mountain flowers, greenery and incredible mountain views. This location is fleeting and can only be accessed for a few short months from June to September when the snow finally melts. What appears during the summer months, however, is magical and can’t be missed. Want a location that truly defines all the Pacific Northwest has to offer? This may be the perfect spot!

The park area was carved out several years ago when it was an old rock quarry and some of the fun features serve as amazing backdrops for photos. My favorite spots to shoot at this park are the concrete diamond structures, open fields of grass, the amazing foot bridge, and the rocky beach. This location in the summer becomes bleached and has a desert feel- it is such a different feeling than our typical Pacific Northwest green and gives a transformed look. The other benefit to this gorgeous location? The golden light is amazing! But you have to time it right because there are no trees or spots for coverage.

#3- UW Campus and Arboretum: This year our Teen and Seniors were super excited about all that the UW campus and arboretum has to offer. This collective location has it all from amazing architecture, rose gardens, cool bridges and seasonal flowers. The UW campus is most known for its amazing Cherry Blossoms that bloom every spring. The UW Quad is THE location for cherry blossoms and people flock to this popular spot from all over the country to see its splendor. There is a ton of variety at this location no matter what time of year, so if you want lots of different backdrops and looks to your photos- this is a must see!

#2- Downtown Tacoma: Downtown Tacoma is one of my favorite locations to shoot and it is no surprise that it takes the #2 spot chosen by my teens for the second year in a row. Downtown Tacoma has so much variety within just a few blocks and if you want that urban, edgy feel, this is the location for you. Check out the Opera Alley area for bright pops of color, the Spanish steps and the magnificent 11th Ave Drawbridge. Or, head over to the Glass Museum for lots of brick, iron steps, big windows and Chihuly Glass. No matter which area you choose, you will love it!

Defiance Park: Collective locations are fantastic because they give you tons of different variety within a close, walkable area. Pt. Defiance Park is a perfect location if you are “a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll”. Pt. Defiance was our #1 pick by our Teens and Tweens and there are so many reasons that this spot has it all. There are beautiful gardens that are filled with gorgeous light and constantly change as the seasons progress. In the spring you get the bright bursts of green, in the summer you have abundant rose and dahlia flowers, and fall offers bright, bold color with all the beautiful leaves. Want a little more urban look? Pt. Defiance has that too with a fun brick pagoda and concrete steps that are perfect for a more edgy vibe. If you want variety and gorgeous light for your senior photos, Pt. Defiance is THE place to go.
