What to Wear During your Graduation Ceremony

Graduation day is one of the most important and exciting days of your life. You have worked so hard for the past 13 years and the day is finally here to celebrate all your achievements. As you walk across that stage, all eyes (and cameras) will be on you, so picking out the perfect outfit is essential. Here are a few ideas to get you started on what to wear for graduation.

Dresses:

One good option for graduation day is a cute summer dress. You want to make sure that you pick out a dress in a light color so it doesn’t show through your gown. Go for something flowy and comfortable that you can move freely in. Stay away from outfits that are tight and constricting. You most likely will be sitting for several hours so make sure it fits well. Heat may be a factor as well, so make sure you have a fabric that is breathable and comfortable. Some options would be to go for dresses in soft pastels, lace or simple floral prints.

Rompers:

Rompers are another great option for graduation day. They are flowy, comfortable and easy to wear. Stick with simple colors and patterns- lace, chiffon, or the off-the-shoulder styles are all cute and appropriate for your big day. Whichever you decide to wear, make sure it lies nicely underneath your gown so there’s no bulging or pulling.

Ballet flats are on trend and a perfect way to dress up your look while staying comfortable on graduation day. Most likely you will be doing a ton of walking, so make sure you wear shoes that are comfortable and don’t rub your feet. Flats are a perfect option for pairing with a simple dress or romper and can complete your look. Go for the lace up style, the ankle strap or the classic flat. They are all cute and will look perfect on your big day.

Thick Heeled Shoes:

If you do prefer to add some height to your outfit on graduation day, wedges or any thick heeled shoes are a great option. A thick heel will give you the height you want and the stability to walk across the stage without worrying about tripping or falling. This will ensure that there’s enough support on your heels so that your feet won’t be begging to be set free by the end of the ceremony.

Accessories always add fun to any photo opportunity. The trick on your graduation day is to keep it simple so you don’t distract from your Cap and Gown (plus all the cords, tassels and banners you may be wearing). A simple pair of earrings, a dainty necklace or a cute bracelet are perfect adornments on your graduation day. And don’t forget your class ring. You’ve worked hard to earn that, so make sure it’s there to celebrate with you on your big day.
