Senior Picks: Top Locations Chosen by 2017 Seniors

It’s been an incredible year and I have loved the opportunity to work with so many amazing 2017 Seniors this past season!  When it comes to Seniors, its all about location, location, location. Choosing the perfect location for their Senior Pictures is a big deal and there were definitely some favorites among my 2017 Seniors this year. 70% of my seniors chose one of these locations below. Which one was their favorite? Read below and check it out!

5th Place- Saltwater State Park:

Landing in 5th place this year was Saltwater State Park located in Des Moines, WA. This is a small park that packs several great locations very close together making it very easy and accessible. My favorite spots to photograph include a small wooden foot bridge nestled in the trees, the beach (of course) with all it’s fun driftwood and cattails, and the park area where you can typically find some nice fall colors starting at the end of September. To see more of this great location, take a look at Carmen’s pictures and you will see what makes this location special!

4th Place- Mayflower Dairy Farm:

Mayflower Dairy Farm is always a popular location for my girls. The rustic charm of the barns, cute little country road and warm golden light make this location a must see. The location is small and has lots of options for that country, farm girl feel. Sylvia, Andria, and McKayla chose this location for their pictures this summer and they came out fantastic! Check out their pictures for more inspiration and get ready to be wowed!

3rd Place- Clark Lake Park:

Sliding into 3rd place this year is a park you may have driven by several times and not paid very close attention to. Clark Lake Park in Kent looks like nothing when you pull into its tiny parking lot, but once you work your way back, its towering fir trees, messy grass, split-rail fences and warm light will win you over. Whenever my seniors ask for trees and a Pacific Northwest feel, this is the location I recommend. For more pictures on this hidden gem, check out Kiara’s blog!

2nd Place- Downtown Tacoma:

Downtown Tacoma is one of my favorite locations to shoot and it is no wonder that is tied for the 2nd most popular location for my seniors. Downtown Tacoma has so much variety within just a few blocks and if you want it all, this is the location for you. Check out the Opera Alley area for bright pops of color, the Spanish steps and this magnificent draw bridge. Or, head over to the Glass Museum for lots of brick, iron steps, big windows and Chihuly Glass. No matter which area you choose, you will love it! Just ask Emily, Baylee,  Payton and Katie!

2nd Place- Chamber’s Bay:

Chamber’s Bay is a gorgeous golf course cut into the side of a cliff right off the Puget Sound. The park area was carved out several years ago when it was an old rock quarry and some of the fun features serve as amazing backdrops for Senior Pictures. My favorite spots to shoot at this park are the concrete diamond structures, open fields of grass, the amazing foot bridge, and the rocky beach. This location in the summer becomes bleached and has a desert feel- it is such a different feeling than our typical Pacific Northwest green and gives a transformed look. The other benefit to this gorgeous location? The golden light is amazing! But you have to time it right because there are no trees or spots for coverage. Check out Avery, Cara and Jen’s pictures below to see all that this amazing location has to offer!

1st Place- Georgetown:

Just south of downtown Seattle is the little town of Georgetown, WA. This little city is just a few blocks long, but has a ton of fun and variety when it comes to Senior Pictures. Brick alleyways, colorful doors, graffiti walls, and an old truck cemetery makes this location my most popular with my seniors. The other huge benefit to this location is that it has plenty of covered spots for our rainy fall weather, so it makes a great back up and still produces an amazing variety. 20% of my Seniors chose this location this year making it my number 1 and post popular location chosen!  Check out Kate, Fatima and Erin to see why it’s the best!
